Hello!

I'm Jess Gurr, aka. Wildfire 198, a Writer & Illustrator from Bristol in the (sometimes) sunny UK.

I like to create shiny, pretty things in the form of illustrations e.g. character and concept art, posters and print & design work, as well as crafting interesting wordy bits, writing copy and editorial pieces, articles & reviews. Oh, and I blog a bit too.

If you'd like to have a chat with me, maybe about some work you'd like done, why not send me a nice email? I like getting mail...

  • @markcrilley Hey, there! I was just wondering, how would you draw a chibi in profile? Not having a nose makes it a bit difficult, no :)? 3 days ago

Amelia’s Magazine

I did a couple of editorial illustrations for Amelia’s Magazine, the first being for an article on Saint Saviour, a UK-based singer and musician, and the second a piece on eco-friendly skincare brand, Shea Alchemy.
Both briefs were open, the only requirement being to include an element of the theme of each article. For the Saint Saviour piece, I decided to make use of the ‘colourful’ nature of the singer with the splashes of paint in the background.
For the Shea Alchemy piece, I wanted it to be a bit more understated, so I kept it nice and simple, using just a representation of one of their products alongside their signature ingredient.
